An Anniversary

Today the Mr and I have been married for 10 years.

A decade has seemingly flashed by in the blink of an eye, and at the same time, it feels like forever since I was walking into the church to meet him at the altar. I wasn’t a little girl who ever dreamt of getting married, it just felt right and we went with it.

The same is true of our move to Germany. At this point I’m not sure we’ll make a decade here, but since we’re almost halfway there already, it’s a definite maybe.

Anniversaries in this house are pretty understated, maybe a dinner out, a bottle of fizz, a joint treat or just a night in, I’m fine with any of those options. Since this year is a big one (for us anyway) we will be doing it German style and trotting off for a wellness retreat for a few days….well it’s actually a bierness retreat, which sounds wonderful and I hope, lives up to it’s biery potential.

Also I’ve become ‘that wife’. The one who makes his and hers T-shirts. In my defence I’ve had a very crappy and stressful few weeks and a little crafting has been highly therapeutic. I’m totally not going to force him to wear it. That’s a lie, I will. It’s not too embarrassing, honest. By popular demand the above mentioned T-shirts

We’ve managed not to kill each other for 10 whole years, and that deserves a celebration!

Congratulations! 10 years is something to be proud of. And to be happily married after 10 years is an achievement. There aren’t many of us in that club. Enjoy your celebrations. Perhaps pack the t-shirts for your retreat 🙂

Congratulations and best wishes for many more happy decades together! My husband and I reach 10 next summer, and we enjoy understated celebrations as well. Enjoy your weekend bierness retreat together!
