Before I get onto the funnies, and usual Eurovision shiny happy people, I think it’s worth drawing some attention to the first semi final interval act. The grey people…
The hosts of the night explained Eurovision in an utterly adorable way in semi final 2, someone has been watching ‘The Producers’, it’s definitely worth a watch if you haven’t seen it already…
I’m not saying any of these guys will win, some of my favourites didn’t even make it through the semi finals but these are my picks. Special shout outs to my favourite non-qualifiers from the semis…
San Merino – A gravel voiced slightly murderously delivered disco love song, super cheesey and perfect for Eurovision…
Iceland – Just for the fringe alone, I actually enjoyed this, it sounds like it’s about alien invasion, but if you can get past that…
Estonia – If you watch this with your eyes closed you’ll react to it very differently, this guys intense eyes were a little too American Psycho for me…
Belarus – Naked hologram with a wolf…
Switzerland – The poor singer appeared to smoke from her armpits and had a dance routine which consisted of mainly mogul training knee bends.
Slovenia – Their country, dance with a hint of yodeling was quite good, the male pole dancer was a bit random…
The Final
The favourites are Russia (trying really hard but basically a rip off of last years winner), France (catchy, very catchy), Australia (a big power ballad which is the opposite of last years number, this year they came to win) and Latvia (even if this doesn’t win, I can bet I’ll be hearing it on the radio soon).
Though my personal favourites are
Bulgaria, can’t beat a good dance routine too…
The Netherlands, understated and with a message…
And Georgia, such a welcome change from the norm…
As far as the final winner? A country ending in A, possibly, I can’t judge what the rest of Europe will vote for on the night. Can you?
It was great, although perhaps not as crazy as I had been hoping for. Russia tried a little too hard but Bulgaria’s glowing bike band things were great. No idea what the songs were like …
The craziness did disappoint this year
